Volunteer Job Descriptions – 2025

All volunteer roles within our agency are essential to our success and highly valued. Volunteer opportunities are flexible in both hours per month and time of day. Our facility is open and operational 24/7/365 and can easily accommodate any schedule or availability.

Resource Locator

The Resource Locator is responsible for identifying and updating resource categories assigned by the FCFH Data Curator. This includes locating accurate, current information and entering updates as needed. The role requires strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.

This role utilizes standardized scripts and a guided resource questionnaire.
Opportunities are available on-site or work-from-home.

Outreach and Marketing

Outreach volunteers play a vital role in community engagement and awareness. Responsibilities may include attending community events on behalf of First Call for Help, distributing information throughout the county, and engaging with the public.

Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with diverse groups, possess excellent communication skills, and feel passionate about the First Call for Help mission. You help connect community organizations to FCFH and increase awareness of our services.

This is an on-site and community-based opportunity.

Facility Maintenance

This position assists with small repairs, routine checks, and general upkeep to ensure the building remains safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. Tasks may include minor fixes, problem-solving, upkeep of interior and exterior spaces, lawn care, and routine safety checks.

This is a hands-on, on-site only opportunity.

Building Housekeeping

Volunteers help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our building. Responsibilities may include dusting, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, window care, and tidying or organizing public spaces.

This role is essential in ensuring every guest enters a clean, cared-for environment.

This is an on-site only opportunity.

Special Projects

Throughout the year, special project needs may arise. These can include mass mailings, sewing projects, building or repair projects, community partnership activities, or other agency-wide initiatives.

Assignments vary based on season and agency needs.

Who is First Call For Help/211?

We are a non-profit organization established in 1974 as an agency providing free, confidential and non-judgemental active listening, information/resources/referrals, and crisis intervention services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What Roles Does a Volunteer Play?

Volunteers are critical to our agency as a man-power asset that assists in updating resources, identifying new resources in our community, manning our agency booth at community events, and through this create immediate impact on individuals and families in need.

What Does This Commitment Look Like?

On-board training session of 2 hours, Once a week for 2 hours/4 hours per month, A commitment of 3 months.
